History
of St. Valentine Radio
St. Valentine Radio is a listener supported non-profit lay apostolate organization governed by a Board of Directors. It operates with the permission and blessing of Bishop John W. Yanta. It is an Ecumenical Outreach supporting traditional family values through the sharing of the gospel. In February of 2004, a group of Catholics businessmen came to the realization that there was no public media available to explain or defend the Catholic faith in the Amarillo area. They were inspired to bring Catholic Radio to the Amarillo area by the new evangelization message of John Paul II: "Radio offers perhaps the closest equivalent today of what Jesus was able to do with large groups through His preaching. Radio is an intimate medium, which can reach people on the street, in the cars, or in their homes…Radio may well be the most cost-effective means of reaching large numbers of people who may not want to read or may lack exposure to Catholic publications-but will be willing to eavesdrop on Catholic Radio stations." Mrs. Peggy Brandon, a noble lady of faithful moral and unreserved pro-life values facilitated the transfer of the KDJW Station to St. Valentine Radio. St. Valentine Radio went on the air on February 14, 2006 at 6pm when Bishop John Yanta blessed the studio after the Mass celebrated in the premises. The name St. Valentine Radio was chosen in an attempt to appeal to Christians of all walks of faith. St. Valentine Radio encourages Catholics to be renewed and encouraged in their faith, help fallen away Catholics return to the Catholic Church and increase the participation in RCIA programs.
