       MARCH 2008

Catholics In Action -  On Holy Wednesday, March 19th, 2008, Sister Miriam's guest will be Annette Baber. Annette is a dear friend of the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ as well as her friend. Last year we aired Annette's testimony that she gave at the Magnificat Catholic Women's Conference several years ago. She grew up in a Jewish household in Des Moines, Iowa, had a faith crisis when her beloved mother was gravely ill, married a non-practicing Catholic and lived in Illinois. There she became a member of a Jewish synagogue close to her house. She was  determined, as she put it, to be the best Jewess ever. She became very active in the synagogue. Then she learned that her Rabbi was an atheist. Again she had a faith crisis. She decided she also no longer believed in a personal God. She became very depressed and her marriage began to crumble. In a moment of deep despair, Annette decided to commit suicide, but the Lord stopped her through a severe storm that kept her from driving her car over a bridge. As Annette was lying on the couch not knowing where to go or what to do, she had a spiritual experience that caused her to realize that Jesus was truly the Messiah her people having been waiting for. Not knowing any better, Annette joined a Protestant Church. Eventually, although very resistant to becoming Catholic because of her experience as a child of being persecuted by Catholic children, Annette decided to make the step of faith and entered the Catholic Church. Her non practicing Catholic husband also soon returned to the Catholic Church. Annette describes herself as a "fulfilled Jew". She is very active in her parish in Illinois as well as in the Catholic women's organization called "Magnificat." She is a popular speaker at conferences and radio programs. So join me on Holy Wednesday beginning at 11 AM and hear Annette Baber share "The Jewish Passover and the Last Supper".

"Mary's Touch" - A program will play on Sundays: at 6:00 am (Central time) and at 5:30 pm (Central time). On December 2006, I (Sister Miriam, DLJC) interviewed Cheri Lamonte. Cheri lives with her husband in Austin, TX. She has authored a book called "The Healing Touch of Mary". It's a compilation of testimonies told to Cheri over the years about the Blessed Mother's maternal care. Now she has begun a radio program called "Mary's Touch." Tune to St Valentine Catholic Radio 1360 AM every Sunday.
